News Round up 1/19/12

Just part of the ploy cause energy prices to "necessarily skyrocket"... The left is so married to global warming... they think those that deny it are loons... why do they not see the national debt as an equal but more imminent crisis and that ignoring it is just as crazy if not more so. How do you plan to deal with global warming with no money? Jobs are needed to build the tax base, to pay down the debt to be able to afford your global warming peccadillo. We all knew he was going to make the wrong decision, at least he doesn't get to hide it away until after the election. So now he has to do the same thing he always does try to shift the blame off onto someone else... Standard cowardly liberhole tactics.

Article: Newt Gingrich to South Carolina: You’re my (and America’s) only hope

Article: Sarah Palin: 'I'd Vote for Newt'

Look, I don't care. The three of you please discuss this out and two of you walk away. I don't care which two. It is more important to not have Romney be our nominee than to quibble over which of the three of you takes the nod in the end. Stop splitting the non-Romney vote. Why can't we have a candidate like David Petraeus or Ray Odierno that we can all unite behind?

Article: Gov. Haley: Romney doesn’t have to release his tax return

Nikki, the tea party put you where you are and the tea party can certainly remove you from that position. Please remember that. Romney is NOT tea party, he's Dom Perignon party...

Article: Arkansas family loses second son in Afghanistan

I honor both of your service. May you rest forever more in the memories of your brothers in arms as an honored comrade and in the hearts of a thankful nation. I also honor the sacrifice of your family. May they know that our hearts and thoughts go out to them in this terrible time.

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; for he to-day that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, this day shall gentle his condition; and gentlemen in England (or America for that matter) now-a-bed shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here, and hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks that fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

Article: GOP campaign rhetoric raising racial concerns

How does this pass for News? Seriously? You have a Berkeley Professor commenting on the Republican nomination race. There is no way you could EVER get an objective opinion there. Everyone knows that the vastest majority of blacks voted for Obama in 2008 and we're quite aware that they will do it again in 2012. They will do it specifically because he is black... yet that is not racist. Gingrich didn't even mention race, and as any liberal will be happier than a clam to tell you, the majority of welfare recipients are white. Now I ask you. Where's the racism? Who's practicing it? This is all an effort to prevent the voters from actually protracting Obama's abysmal record.

Utter Fallacy

The House of Representatives has pushed through a bill that hands Barrack his much desired "cap and trade". All of us will suffer if this should make its way through the Senate. Obama of course claims that the measure is needed to prevent "global climate change".

You'll notice that the wording on that claim has changed. They used to call it "global warming". Surreptitiously they've smuggled in a change in terms. Now they call it "global climate change". Do you know why? Because the planet isn't warming. In fact, it has been cooling for the last 11 years. We are in the midst of the coldest summer in the Northern Hemisphere in 50 years.

In a previous post I related an article that showed that the EPA was using September temperature figures for October temperature reports for large portions of the globe in order to artificially increase the mean temperature.

Science has a central tenant, that being "predictable and repeatable". If your hypothesis can not be verified by actually predicting the future repeatedly, then you have to assume that your premise is flawed. In other words. If you postulate that increasing the CO2 content in the atmosphere will increase temperatures, then the observations do not pan out, your premise is incorrect. In other words mankind is not changing the environment. It is troublesome for the liberals when the pesky environment doesn't cooperate.

Well you see their pet projects are depending on us believing that the sky is falling. I mean they are at the forefront of creating "green" technology. Do you know how one creates green technology? You take a simple straight forward technology. You make a Rube Goldberg version of it that is less efficient, more costly and less dependable. Then you slap a "green/eco-friendly" label on it and ridicule the public into buying it. When ridicule alone doesn't work, then you invent a bogus theory and call it science. Using that "science" as an excuse, you disadvantage the "non-green" technology via legislation.

So it would be problematic of course if one of your top climate scientists suspended his faith and actually looked at the conflicting scientific evidence. Well that has happened. Alan Carlin, the primary author of a 98 page EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) report that questions the soundness of "global warming" science has reported that his findings are being quashed by the EPA. In an e-mail exchange released to CBS news, Carlin's boss, Al McGartland is quoted as saying:
"The administrator and the administration has decided to move forward... and your comments do not help the legal or policy case for this decision."
In other words, "shut up! Don't confuse the public with facts. Just write propaganda to scare them into supporting our stance".

So there you have it. Many of us have known that the science behind global warming is specious at best. I mean when announcements are made about the scientific world arriving at a "consensus". That says it all right there. Science isn't driven by consensus. It's science not American Idol. Science is driven by the ability of a theory to reliably and repeatedly account for and predict the observed facts.

So, if the Senate also passes "cap and trade" they are in effect simply creating a system by which they are leveling the playing field. They are slanting the odds so that their uneconomical, ungainly, ineffective, Rube Goldberg-esque "green" technologies can compete. They do it by raising the cost of conventional technology by means of a tax. This eco-fad will spell ruination for our economy. American family budgets; already struggling with the cost of energy, will be stretched even thinner just to service a lie.

WTF Over?

Oil has dropped to $92 per barrel. That's a decrease of $55 since the high water mark in July! The first time it's been under $100 since March! How is it that the price of oil has dropped over 35% and the price of gas has only dropped 7%. The last time oil cost $92 per barrel, the national average gas price was $2.69 per gallon. Any politician or oil mogul want to tell me again that there isn't any price manipulation going on?

I am going to mention my contention again that I believe that the abuse of the oil companies has warranted that they be punished with some really nice old school oppressive governmental regulation.

I of course will not hold my breath until that occurs because we all know that the oil companies and lobbyists own Washington. Our elected officials are not there to serve their constituencies... They are there to serve their own personal interests and the interests of their financiers. Their only job in Washington is ensuring their reelection.

70% of us want a "do it all" energy policy but they instead wanted a vacation (nice that they can afford one when so many of us could not). Beyond that, 100% of us are getting gouged at the gas pumps.

I am therefore issuing a proposal. The cost of energy transcends political viewpoints. It is an issue of the fat cats getting richer while old folks freeze in the winter and single mothers have to decide between health care and buying gas so they can get to work.

We bloggers have grown mighty. We are a power to be reckoned with. We've done things like sour public opinion on the war in Iraq, we've ended the career of news commentators that forged documents. We ushered in a change in power in the congress and joined to defeat the last two democrat presidential bids.

Since Washington has abandoned us and as I've already mentioned that this issue transcends political points of view, I propose that we the bloggers unite to bring the oil companies and politicians to task. I am thinking of creating a communal blog with as many contributors as I can find of all political stripes where we can work together to inform the public, educate our elected officials and attempting to end the tyranny over our wallets.

I hope that this will work. If you would be interested in contributing to such a blog leave a message in the comments.

Ok, this really is too much!

In news today, BP reports it must replace over 70% of the pipe in the Alaska pipeline.

This is really starting to work on my last nerve! It seems the oil industry is seeking any excuse to jack up the price of gasoline. At this time of unprecedented gas prices, the oil companies are making unprecedented profits. Do you think perhaps the two could be linked?

First there's the unrest in the Middle East (as if that shit hole is ever lacking in "unrest"). Then there's hurricane Katrina. Then there's Iran's threats to cut off their oil production. Now this. As far as I'm concerned it's all just excuses for thievery!

One useless investigation after another clears the oil industry of price fixing and price gouging (as if we'd expect them to state otherwise) and yet you and I can look around and see the gasoline prices changing in unison several times a day. How can there not be price fixing? In these times of unprecedented profits how can there not be price gouging?

My office over looks a frontage road lined with gas stations. I see the prices rise and fall in unison all along the frontage road (often several times a day). I know that none of these stations has received a shipment as I've not seen tanker trucks unloading prior to the price changes. If a station pays a given price per gallon for a truck load of unleaded, why then does the price change several times a day? Shouldn't the pump price be based upon the price the retailer paid to procure that product? I asked a gas station owner that very question once and was told that they receive a call from their oil company representative telling the the price to charge. How is that not price fixing?

I'm not normally one for governmental manipulations of private industries, but in this case, they've pissed me off enough that I am.

I call for all oil companies to be placed under the rules that govern public utilities. I call for fixed percentage profit rates. I call for governmental inspectors to sit in these bastards pockets, like a burr under their saddle, smothering them in oversight until sanity returns.

The oil companies may flip the bill for politician's reelection campaigns, but it is we the voters that actually elect these people. I don't need any liberals wandering in here claiming their party is without sin, because they're not. All of the politicians in Washington are complicit in the bilking of America by the oil companies. Every last one of them.

It is time for a revolution... a gas pump revolt! Realistically, what can we, the consumers do that will actually have an impact and let our ire be known? What can we do to bring about an end to the tyranny at the pump?

The oil companies will surely use this latest news as an excuse for cranking up the pump prices yet again, and yet the vast majority of North Shore oil is sold to Japan (per an oil company exec. I used to work with). That's right it's not refined and burned here. It's shipped to Japan for their motorists to use.

That's another thing for y'all liberals... If we "went to war for oil"... Why are we paying what we're paying? Don't get me wrong. We will some day need to go war for oil. Hell that's why Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. Without oil our economy will screech to a whimpering halt. In fact I propose that the war for oil should start right here and right now! Our first target should be Shell, BP, Conoco, Exxon and the rest of the cheating bastards who are holding our lives hostage to sate their insatiable greed.
