Sometimes the impossible is indeed possible

The linked article revolves around a brain damaged fire fighter who recently and unexpectedly started talking again after years of silence. It just goes to show that the human mind is a very fickle thing. For everyone that supported the killing of Terri Schaivo, can you say with 100% certainty that just such an unexpected turn around was not in store for her? In this society, we give convicted murders every chance to avoid a death sentence, but those who are least able to defend themselves, the infirmed and unborn are given no chance of reprieve. What does that say about us as a folk?
