All for One and One for All

Well it seems that Newt Gingrich managed to beat "Mr. Inevitable" in South Carolina last night by a hefty 25% points! That brings us to the curious situation where all of the remaining candidates (the serious ones at least) have won one state. Santorum won Iowa. Romney won Vermont and Gingrich won South Carolina.

Now we move on into Florida. All of the normal media outlets are of course prognosticating that Romney will take Florida. Personally I think that Gingrich will see a hefty bounce off of his decisive win over Romney in the Palmetto state.

If I were asked I'd still have to admit, that from the remaining pool of candidates, Santorum is the most appealing to me. He's the one that brings the least amount of baggage into the race.

Beyond Speaker Gingrich's tempestuous marital history, he is still weighed down by the results of an ethics investigation that cost him his speaker-ship. Nancy Pelosi has already threatened to release the details of that investigation. Doing so would cost her her job in the House, but I'm sure if it looked like Obama was headed for a loss against Mr. Gingrich that she'd happily fall on that sword for the "good" of her party.

Romney on the other hand has his own issues. He is not well loved by his base. Most of us know that he is just telling us what he thinks we want to hear. Then there's the issue of his tax returns and his maladroit handling of the demands that he release them. Obama has set this election up like it or not to be a contest between him and the senate, framed in the color of the "99%" versus the "1%" and Romney is certainly a card carrying member of the "1%". That is why the left and the mainstream media is pushing so hard for him to be our candidate. Their tactics have been expressly designed to target Romney and even under the mild fire of fellow conservatives on this front, he's shown himself to be less than prepared to weather that fire.

Now moving on a tangent from that topic...

We are going to need to help to derail the president's plan to shift the attention away from his own abysmal performance onto the Congress. We Tea Partiers sent our representatives to the House to thwart Obama's efforts to "fundamentally change" this country. We sent them there and then we sat back down in our easy chairs while they did our bidding and lapsed back into our staunch, traditional, conservative silence allowing them to flutter in the breeze. We need to cover their six! They're doing as much of what we asked them to do as is humanly possible in light of the circumstances.

We need to also defuse this whole 99% vs. 1%, class envy garbage that the democrats have artificially injected into this race. EVERYWHERE that an "Occupy" movement crops up, we Tea Partiers in the area should gather to counter protest. We should allow America to see that the Occupy Movement's selfish demands are not voiced on behalf of all of us. So far they have gone utterly unchallenged.

Do you remember how refreshing it was during our heyday to look around yourself and see that you were not the only one thinking these heretical thoughts? We need to reassure ourselves of that again.

We also need to continue to show the stark differences between them and us. How many rapes were ever reported at ANY Tea Party gathering? Now is our time to act again. If we do not act we may well see another harrowing 4 years of an Obama presidency. I know that all of this activism stuff is tiring. It's a pain in the ass... BUT it is what the other side is good at. If we stay silent, that silence will most assuredly be construed once again to be consent again. The left will be able to claim that their patchouli stinking operatives in the Occupy movement speak for all of us and I don't know about you, but that motley mob of selfish anarchists most assuredly do not give voice to my sentiments. Without our boisterous presence as a counterpoint how then can our candidate (whoever that may end up being) disprove the contention that Occupy is the only genuine American voice?

It is time now for us all to resurrect our ire and to step back out into the streets and make ourselves be heard once more. I know, we've been called all kinds of names and drawn the liberal's anger. We've been painted as out of touch and not the mainstream. We must ignore all of that and drive for the prize. Speak to your friends and help reinvigorate them. Pull your local groups back together and be the firebrand that rekindles the fire in the minds of men. Now is the time for our leader-less movement to provide counterpoise to their supposed leader-less movement. It is time again to march and be oh so joyfully inconvenient for the left so that this country can reawaken from the socialist nightmare we've been living for the last three years.

So dust off your Gadsdens, re-don you tricorns and remember, Solidarnosc my friends!

Pavlov's Dogs

I feel that I must once more speak up. I know I've promised that my writing on this blog would be more prolific. I've tried, honestly I have. Life is what life is... All consuming and overbearing and for that I make no apologies.

I, like you, have been intently watching the wind up to the 2012 election. My favor has meandered like most Republicans' from one candidate to another. First it was Trump, but we all know how that ended up. Then I hitched my hopes onto Michelle Bachmann only to have her lose her sheen when Rick Perry joined the race. Then it turned out that he was incapable of stringing two sentences together in a sentient fashion in a debate. Then my admiration came to rest on Herman Cain.

The more I looked at the man the more I began to appreciate his qualities. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely HATE the idea of a national sales tax, but I harbor no illusions that he could EVER get such a thing through the muck and mire that is our congress. I was intrigued when he first announced his candidacy but didn't know enough to fully appreciate his qualifcations. But as time has passed I've found him to be adequately able in the limelight of a debate, yet you can tell that the man doesn't mince words. He's plain spoken and that for me is FAR more attractive to the polished platitudes of a professional liar politician.

He is not a part of the professional political machine. He's a businessman. He ran a pizza restaurant for crying out loud. His ascendance to the top of the Republican pack has the establishment worried and baffled. Isn't it interesting how they troop out on both sides of the political spectrum to nay-say his chances. Whether it's that vacuous baboon Bobby Gibbs or the ever pedantic Karl Rove it doesn't matter, their derision is palpable.

"This upstart has no chance," they all pontificate, wagging their fingers and trying their best to sound wise...

Yet his lead persists despite their best efforts to derail it. So what do they do? They roll out the ever predictable smear campaign. They know that we, conservatives will react with an primal knee-jerk aversion to claims of moral turpitude. So what do they troop out? A series of women claiming sexual misconduct. How quaint. I didn't see that one coming.

They think we are Pavlov's dogs. They're counting on it. We'll hear the steady drum beat declaring him a monster and turn away from him and head back for the safer, more well-known harbors of the establishment... the same establishment that's driven this country to the verge of extinction. They count on the fact that revelations such as the fact that one of accusers works for the Obama administration, or that one of them lives in the same apartment building as Obama's chief campaign adviser, David Axelrod or that another makes habitual use of litigiousness to further herself will not phase our trained response. Yes, all of these (and I'm sure other revelations yet undisclosed) will not assuage our habituated indignation. We're Pavlov's dogs after all, mere animals... We'll turn away from the only true non-establishment candidate and happily allow them to drive our nation those final few hellish feet to its doom under the steady establishment hand of that superficial Ken doll, Mitt Romney who'll gladly mouth whatever words that he thinks he needs to, to get himself elected.

I pray that we are not so predictable. I hope that we can appreciate the absurd transparency of this tactic. There is no other anti-establishment candidate out there except that trollish imp Ron Paul who thinks "being nice" to Iran will dissuade them procuring and using a nuclear weapon to hasten the appearance of their fictional Imam Mahdi.

The same tactics would never work on the liberals. I mean they happily elected a man whose accusers were able to accurately describe the deformation of his genitals. They don't care about such things, they not the party of diversity as they claim, they're the party of perversity. Even a brief visit to any liberal stronghold will prove that beyond any reasonable shadow of a doubt.

Imagine what would happen if we nominated Herman Cain, a black man, to be our candidate. The liberals have already over-used the appellation "racist" to such an extent that it is now the equivalent of calling a person a "doodie head". How will they react when we call them racists every time they differ with the policies of our minority candidate... Just that alone makes it well worth taking the chance of nominating him. How much worse off can we be? I mean I'd gladly vote for Barney the big dumb purple dinosaur before I'd vote for Obama...

The Voice of Consent

Some of you may have noticed that I've added a quote to the side bar:
"While it is true that a government rules only by the consent of the governed. Too many of us have not considered that silence might easily be construed to be consent."
These are my own words. I made the statement over on DI's blog when commenting on the latest post there. I've tweaked it slightly when compared to what I posted there because Haloscan doesn't allow a poster to edit their comments to refine their language and I am a compulsive word tweaker. I added it to the side bar because it impressed me as being a rather deep statement. Not that I'm saying that I am some sort of font of wisdom or anything, but even an idiot can occasionally happen upon a statement of great profundity by accident.

On its face the statement speaks affirmatively about the tumult we have been creating at the townhalls of late. We are making our lack of consent on that topic clearly known and it seems to be working.

I then began to think about the statement and the context in which it was made. DI and Miradena's post was comparing the many similarities of the actions of our current administration to the actions of Adolf Hitler and National Worker's German Socialist Party (NAZIs) when they siezed power in Germany. We have I'm sure, all heard the contention that as soon as you evoke the NAZIs you've lost the debate because it just isn't politically correct to compare someone to Hitler.

Now we have hit upon a far more important meaning for my statement. George Orwell once wisely posited that controlling the use of language is the avenue for controlling the mind.

Political correctness is an insidious device! Look at the out cry over the administration's attempts to control our health industry... We have all raised our voices and then turned surprisedly to realize that we are not the only ones decrying it. We have suddenly discovered the might of our voices when raised in chorus. Political correctness prevents the organization of political opposition. It stifles the chorus of discontent. It does this because it masks the thoughts of masses. How can we know that we all oppose a thing if we are afraid to voice that opposition? Instead we stand there like islands of solitude, afraid that the unacceptability of voicing our inner thoughts will garner us rejection from those around us.

We must not fear voicing our thoughts. If we allow even the hideous thoughts of lunacy to be untremblingly voiced then it makes the vocalization of the valid but hard questions all the more easy. That is the true gift our founding fathers granted us with the first amendment. The ability to stand basked in the naked light of our thoughts. Our forefathers are often described as rugged individualists. They thought what they thought and freely shared those thoughts, regardless how novel or heretical those thoughts may have been. Over the intervening years we have grown fearful of stating even the obvious; "yes, the emperor is indeed naked", and peer pressure is the instrument of our demise. We are but a shadow our outspoken fore-bearers and more's the pity.

While we as conservatives reside in the acceptable silence, our opponents feel no such compunction. The full tenor of the national voice must be heard in order to set the mid-line. How do you define the middle if one side monopolizes the discourse? The carriage of the melody slips to the sopranos when the baritones fall silent and the piece becomes shrill as it is deprived of the fullness of tone. Suddenly we have laws being proposed to ban "hate" speech but "hate" is defined as only that which is objectionable to one side.Allow me to return to the post on DI's blog. The left has felt no impediment to comparing George W. Bush to Hitler. Why then should DI and Miradena be apologetic when comparing Obama to Hitler? The standard argument I have heard is that until the person has murdered millions as Hitler did, that the comparison is ill-advised. But a very wise man once said that those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Should we wait until millions are marched off to the gas chambers before we sound the alarm? That sounds like the standard liberal tactic when dealing with terrorism... Wait until the act occurs, then prosecute the perpetrators rather than acting proactively to prevent the act.

I suppose what I am saying my friends is fearlessly raise your voices. Speak proudly and without timidity. I, at the very least, will not shun you as a thought leper. I may disagree, but I prefer independent minds as they are far less tedious and boring than their cookie cutter alternatives:
Orwell said that political prose was formed "to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind." (Source)

Thundering Silence

If you click the title of this post you will be taken to the news article that served as the impetus for this post. The title of the article reads, "July, August deadliest months of Afghan war for US". Ever since we as a nation rolled into Afghanistan following 9/11 and later in Iraq the liberal masses lined the streets protesting the war. They claimed that they were "supporting the troops".
At the time, I insisted that they did not really care about the troops in the least. I was lambasted by them. They wondered how I could say such a thing. Clearly they cared about the troops because they just wanted to get them out of danger. Where are you now my hypocritical liberal friends? Where are your protests against Obama's inept handling of the war? Our troops are still dying in Iraq and now they are dying in greater numbers than ever before in Afghanistan. Where is your outrage and concern for their welfare now? Where are the poorly crafted facsimiles of Obama being burned in effigy? Why is Cindy Sheehan not camped outside Obama's house in Chicago?

Nowhere! That is where your protests are. I am thus vindicated. You do not care about the troops in the least! Not only that, but I am also vindicated in asserting that you have no idea how to handle troops. Your man's fat fingered efforts to fight "the right war", the one in Afghanistan is proving that. His ineptitude has bathed his hands in the blood of patriots.

A Few Misc. Topics

I've been very busy lately, but there were a few items I wanted to post on tonight.

First off, I got a rather disturbing call this evening. My father called. My wife answered the phone and immediately knew something was amiss from the tone of his voice.

My father and step-mother were traveling between their home in the Rocky Mountains back to the East Coast to visit family. They had stopped along the way to overnight in Illinois. When my father came out of the motel to load the vehicle to leave he encountered a man who told him a sob story.

My father being the kind man he is, decided to help the man by giving him a ride. Well long story short, the man managed to navigate my father to an unfrequented location where he could be relieved of his wallet and car. My father is physically unharmed from his encounter but has suffered monetary and also without a doubt psychological trauma from the encounter.

Way to go land of Lincoln, preying on an elderly gentleman that is only trying to follow his convictions and be a good Samaritan.

I am resolved that my father will never travel again without a means to defend himself from such predation.

Next topic. This article was forwarded to me by a co-worker. Can someone tell me why Obama is so damned reticent to produce his birth certificate in order to remove all doubts about his eligibility to be president? I mean honestly. I'm tired of people forwarding me all of these articles about all of these challenges to his eligibility to fill the office. I mean if there is no problem with his documentation why not just cough it up to quell the noise?

I guess this is just another instance of the broken promise of openness in his administration.

Now on another note, this one addressed to the folks forwarding these articles to me... Honestly, do we really want to challenge Obama's eligibility? Think about the ramifications for a moment. Even if he is indeed ineligible to be president, ejecting him would only mean that we would be relegated to the loathsome prospect of a Biden/Pelosi administration. Talk about a case of "out of the frying pan and into the fire".

Beyond that the liberals could give a rat's ass about upholding the constitution.

Next topic... Rex 84. Also known as Readiness Exercise 84.

For those not familiar with it here is the politically correct Wikipedia page on it. Here is a somewhat less politically correct presentation of the information.

Now, I'm not usually the type that engages in conspiracy theories. I usually leave that to the mindless Ron Paul drones. But, the second page does indeed present a number of executive orders that can be researched and doing so does seem to support their contentions.

Now to my question. I've read the constitution from front to back more times than I can count. Nowhere in that document did I find any authorization that allows a president to rule by fiat. That is, in effect what executive orders are, the executive branch dictating law.

Answers.com presents a collection the standard arguments that are used to justify the issuance of executive orders, but all of these explanations seem vaporous at best to me. I thought the whole idea behind the blood spilled in our revolution and creation of the constitution was to eliminate the abuses that ensue from being ruled at the whim of a regent.

Beyond that as I mentioned before, the liberals scoff at the constitution... Doubt that, why then are they deploying troops inside our nation's borders to employ the lessons they've learned in Iraq against American citizens to put down the civil unrest that is sure to arise with the implementation of all of these socialist policies?

Last topic. The French recently honored the last surviving British veteran of the bloody trenches of World War I. Ambassador Maurice Gourdault-Montagne awarded 110-year-old Briton, Harry Patch the Legion of Honor medal.

It is always sad to see these first hand recollections of history passing from our collective grasp.

Frank Buckles at 109 years old, is the last living American veteran of WWI. It is sad to see these ranks thinning. The ranks of our WWII veterans are also sadly becoming thinner. So many of these folks have stories of endurance, honor and courage that could inspire and stand as stark lessons for our pampered youth to learn.

They can tell us stories of national resolve in the face of adversity. Unfortunately, I doubt our nation could successfully endure the challenge of fighting either of the world wars in this day and age. Our national resolve would shrivel to raisins on the vine in no time flat in the face of casualties in the field and rationing back at home. We're too busy bailing out businesses that don't deserve being bailed out, sucking at the government tit, discarding the free market, nationalizing businesses and carjacking elderly good Samaritans.

I can only shake my head in shame at the vapid shadow of our former greatness that we as a nation have become.

An Atmosphere of Fear

Prior to the election of the sainted Barack, any time the specter of terrorism arose in political discourse our liberal foes would lower their crooked, boney fingers accusingly and shriek the words "fear monger!" Indeed we had been attacked. In fact, more people died in the attack on 9/11 than died during the attack that launched this nation into World War II. Of course the libs denied in droves that it was terrorists that perpetrated that attack. It was of course our own government that killed all of those people they posited.

This perception that we were "using fear" was bolstered by the fact that the much hated president Bush had been so very effective at preventing further attacks. Our men and women in uniform had taken the fight to the terrorists' home turf and kept them busy there. Our national security agencies had managed to break up every attempt to cause us further harm. The libs were lulled into a false sense of security.

Well now that atmosphere of fear mongering has of course subsided. The holy Hussein has ascended his throne and now everything is goodness and light, right?

Well no. Obama is trying to shove trillion dollar spending packages down our throat so fast that no one can look under the covers to see what a bitter pill that package truly is! He tries to sell it as an economic stimulus package. Of course no one is stupid enough to believe that a trillion dollars worth of condoms, dog parks, butterfly resorts, gifts for perpetrators of voter fraud and STD research is going to stimulate a damned thing (except for the egos of the liberal legislators that take their seats in the Kremlin of the new USSA). Everyone with a clear mind sees that this "stimulus" package is nothing more than a tool to cram pork and liberal societal engineering experiments down our throats.

What is Obama using as a shoe horn to cram this thing down our throats? Why nothing but good old fashioned fear mongering of course! If you don't pass the "stimulus" package then the economy is going to crater and "500 million Americans" a month are going to lose their jobs (never mind the fact that there are only about 300 million Americans Ms. Pelosi). The economic Aramagedon will of course be horrendous if Barry doesn't get his raft of needless spending.

What is the specter he is trying to avert? Why a recession of course. What is a recession really? In my mind a recession is nothing more than the American consumer getting a piss poor attitude and deciding to hold on to their cash. It really isn't anything more than that. Some glitch happens in the markets and the consumers get spooked and stop spending. There is no systemic flaw that causes a recession there isn't anything that can be done to stop it from happening beyond changing the mind set of the consumer. How does tossing all of this needless fear mongering about positively effect the attitude of the consumer? Simply said, it doesn't. In fact it makes it worse.

So when we raised the specter of a real determined enemy that wants to do us true harm we were worthless fear mongers but when Barry-boy tries to cram a trillion dollars worth of spending and social engineering down our throats using fear of nothing more than a bad attitude, that's perfectly OK! Mass-murderers are not to be feared, but a consumer with a piss-poor attitude that is dire! Right!

The American voter isn't that stupid. Support for the "stimulus" bill initially started out being very high. Many pollsters placed the support level at 78-80%. But as soon as the details of what this sham of a deal contained were released the support rocketted into the cellar. Now the pollsters place the support for this monstrosity down around 30-35%. Of course it doesn't matter what the hell the American people want. Washington is deaf to our pleas! Washigton has been deaf to our pleas for decades and the election of Barry-boy will not do a damned thing but deepen that trend.

Speaking of those terrorists that want to do us harm... What has the wunderkind been up to in that arena? Why of course he's stopping the prosecution of them of course. Sending the message that if you slaughter American service members then you will not face any retribution.

During the election we were not supposed to mention Obama's close ties to islam, but now that he's in office he's running around the world himself touting them as strong suits and kissing muslim ass on al-Jazeera. He is actively proving that he detests our military service members. He counts their sacrifices for nothing! On the other hand god forbid that some muslim terrorist pig fucker is inconvenienced by having to hang out in Gitmo or by being tried for planning the murder of American sailors!

Shame on you Barry and shame on you America for allowing this idiot into office.

Complacency

Complacency (n) - A feeling of contentment or self-satisfaction, especially when coupled with an unawareness of danger, trouble, or controversy.

Roll back the clock if you will to a time when our nation's attention was squarely fixed on cutting the size of our military. There were congressional commissions charged with deciding which bases should be closed and the best methods to use to lure soldiers, airmen, sailors and marines to abandon the rigors of military life. We sang rousing strains of kum-bay-ah while basking in the light of our victory over our greatest foe. The time had come when we could finally stand down. We could finally look to "balancing our budgets" and beating our swords into plowshares. Medals were handed out, backs were patted and cigars lit for celebratory smokes.

I remember it clearly. I was a veteran of the cold war sitting in a bar listening to CNN and talking with some friends. They were all enamoured with the prospects of the cold war finally ending.

I was not. I told them of the small towns I had seen encircled in barbed wire where children played in their yards under the watchful eyes of armed guards who would not hesitate to shoot them if they chased their ball too near the wire. I had told them of seeing mile after mile of razor wire fences bristling with mines stretching as far as the eye could see and of small towns shorn in half by those fences. These people, I told them, were pure evil.

They laughed and told me that I was just exhibiting the hatred of my foe that the army had brainwashed into my head. They cited some idiotic Sting lyrics about the Russians loving their children too:

In Europe and America, there's a growing feeling of hysteria
Conditioned to respond to all the threats
In the rhetorical speeches of the Soviets
Mr. Krushchev said we will bury you
I don't subscribe to this point of view
It would be such an ignorant thing to do
If the Russians love their children too
How can I save my little boy from Oppenheimer's deadly toy
There is no monopoly in common sense
On either side of the political fence
We share the same biology
Regardless of ideology
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the Russians love their children too
There is no historical precedent
To put the words in the mouth of the President
There's no such thing as a winnable war
It's a lie that we don't believe anymore
Mr. Reagan says we will protect you
I don't subscribe to this point of view
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the Russians love their children too
We share the same biology
Regardless of ideology
What might save us, me, and you
Is that the Russians love their children too

I told them that I enjoyed the melody of the Sting song, but that hopeful lyrics would provide no shield. I explained that the Russians were not adverse to trading territory for time. They had done this extensively during World War II and they did it to Napoleon. It was a traditional tactic of theirs. I told my listening friends to mark my words. That those who ignored history were doomed to repeat it.

They laughed and bought me another beer, dismissing my words as the grumblings of a doom-saying brainwashed veteran.

Then I watched as the Russians ceded more and more territory and all the while we were growing more and more complacent... disarming and defeating ourselves.

Then I grumbled under my breath when the Russian president ordered the rusty Russian navy back to sea. I sighed when Bear bombers resumed threatening Alaska with nuclear devastation. Again and again the soul-less former KGB agent increased the stakes and ratcheted up the pressure. I nodded knowingly when Gary Kasparov was jailed for deigning to striving to create a political opposition. Finally I was vindicated when Russia rolled into Georgia brutally pulverizing a free and sovereign nation.

Now here we are; the Russians have signed a ceasefire agreement. The puppet president of Russia has promised again and again to pull out of Georgia and yet continued to build their fortifications inside the besieged nation.

We've sent our Secretary of State to hold meetings and talk to the Russians. They appease her and move missiles into the disputed province of South Ossetia. We threaten to kick them out of the G8. They say "that's nice" and take Georgian soldiers hostage.

We threaten to introduce a resolution into the UN Security Council. They laugh and confiscate US military material that was in Georgia to train Georgian troops for their missions in Iraq. We sign a deal with the Polish to build an anti-missile shield to protect them from Iranian nukes and the Russians threaten to target them with their nukes. Our allies look on aghast as the supposed "most powerful nation of the Earth" is impotent to stop Georgia's torment.

Oh yes Virginia, this gnarled old veteran was right. We scrapped the military might that set the Russians back on their heels. We sent thousands of veterans home with a handshake. We took the tanks from our very best forces and gave them trucks instead. We stopped allotting money to train the troops that remained. All of this we did without ensuring that the bear wasn't just playing dead. Now when that bear suddenly now comes around, baring its claws and flashing its fangs we ask it nicely to get back in its cave but we have nothing to compel that to happen. Our complacency has cost lives. How long will it be until it costs American lives? In a dangerous world it is folly to not be prepared to face those dangers and we unfortunately are folly's children.

Anachronism

Anachronism - Noun: Someone or something which is out of its proper chronological order, especially a person or practice that belongs to an earlier time.

---------------------

I am coming increasingly to the realization that I am indeed an anachronism. It is I suppose, a good exercise to realize and embrace one's true demeanor, your place in the world and scheme of things so to speak. I am sure that some of my "progressive" readers will take this admission as being tantamount to me admitting that I am in some way backwards, awkward or archaic... in other words undesirable, but you see that is exactly the point I am trying to make.

Our nation is degenerating to the place where we are expected to not only accept, but celebrate perversity. Qualities once revered are now reviled. No one has come to realize the obvious; that when we discard the things that are reviled by our "progressive" brethren that all too often those things considered blessings by everyone are also discarded. I mean for example, no one wants violent crime and yet violent crime stalks the halls of the most "progressive" strongholds like a pack of ravenous hyenas hounding a wounded gazelle.

This realization that I am indeed an anachronism is not some recent revelation. I was simply reminded of it again tonight. You see I was watching a program on PBS that dealt with the history of the American flag.

I found myself moved and moist eyed on more than one occasion during that program. At one point they addressed the fact that over half of the Congressional Medals of Honor awarded during the Civil War were awarded for the act of defending a flag. They specifically spoke about Sergeant William H. Carney, the first black man ever awarded the CMH. This man served with the 54th Massachusetts (the unit featured in the 1989 film, "Glory") at the battle of Fort Wagner. As they addressed the man's final words claiming, "Boys, I only did my duty. The flag never touched the ground." I felt the tears welling up in my eyes and my heart welling up in my throat.

Then inevitably, since the program was hosted on PBS (aka the Politburo Brainwashing System) the discussion came around to the liberal contention that it would be somehow un-American to ban flag burning.

Sure, it probably would be un-American to ban flag burning as any true American would realize that burning the flag is akin to spitting on the freedom of speech that you are attempting to exercise. The flag is not just a simple piece of fabric, it is the very symbol of the freedom that you are taking for granted, the fabric that weaves together the founding ideals of this, our homeland.

You see this is why I prefer to live out in the rural eddies that are caught circling in an earlier era, protected from the ravages of time... Places where doors can be left unlocked and people aren't rushing headlong after the latest fad that discards another thread from the weft of civil humanity... places as far as possible from festering liberal ridden, urban cesspools.

Some time ago, I wrote “Let's make this absolutely clear. Guns do not cause crime... liberalism does.” That particular quote garnered a good bit of displeasure and ire and yet the truth of it can not be denied. All of the places that have the highest concentrations of liberals also have the highest crime rates. I've also proven in a previous post that all of the cities with the highest crime rates are governed by liberals. Therefore I contend that liberalism isn't caused by crime... crime is caused by the disease of liberalism.

It is for that reason that I am always astounded when liberals claim to be "progressive" as if abandoning the vestiges of morals and civility is progress and not folly.

89% of Statistics are Completely Made Up

Click the post title and read the headline... "Report: 121 veterans linked to killings".
At least 121 Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans have committed a killing or been charged in one in the United States after returning from combat, The New York Times reported Sunday. The newspaper said it also logged 349 homicides involving all active-duty military personnel and new veterans in the six years since military action began in Afghanistan, and later Iraq.
This is pretty standard liberal tactics. This is the New York Times here reporting that they've accumulated a list of 121 war veterans that have "committed a killing or been charged in one". That's a pretty broad statement... Charged by whom? Were they guilty? There have been a number of the troops who've been charged for killing enemy combatants or noncombatants (due to collateral damage) in the execution of their duties. Do you remember the Haditha Marines? You know the ones that were held in jail like common criminals for performing their duty who've all been since cleared of all wrong doing.

You see it is an essential part to their pacifist argument. War is bad. It makes otherwise normal people killers. There's a big problem with that argument however. Sure bad things occur during wars, that's just a part of it. But what the Times fails to do in this skewed article is give you context. They don't tell you the details of those 121 soldier's cases. They don't tell you how many were convicted... (note charged is not the same as guilty). They also fail to give you a basis of comparison... How many military personnel have served in those two theaters of war and how does the percentage of those compare to the population at large. The media built the Rambo myth during the war in Vietnam... all soldiers are damaged goods because of their service, volatile potential murderers. The Rambo myth is a tool used to propose disbanding the army. It is not based in any sort of logic , it is an emotional appeal... But then we all know that liberals find true logic to be an anathema. Logic gets in the way of their agendas. Here's another major rub. If you disband the army so that no one can be turned into a potential murderer, a ticking time bomb. Who stands between you and those unwashed hoards who have no such refined liberal points of view? Who is there to deal with Hannibal? As I said before, sure, wars can harm people. And yes, returning veterans may suffer some mental anguish or trauma if they are exposed to particularly egregious situations. Some of those suffering mental trauma may indeed act out violently but what alternative do you have? If no one rises up voluntarily to offer resistance to an aggressor, then the ones who are placed in those " particularly egregious situations" may be you! It is time for all people of good conscience to rise up and denounce this baseless, tasteless slander of the men and women who've chanced the most for everyone's benefit. The New York Times should be ashamed... but that's another thing liberals lack... a sense of shame.

UPDATE: Hold on to your hats boys and girls, it looks like the G-Man called this one right from the get go! There are emerging allegations that the New York Times has cooked the books on this one, purposely slandering our ladies and gentlemen in uniform!!! All the news that's fit to print indeed!

News Flash!

... The Omaha mall gunman was mentally ill. Click the post title for the article that I'm referring to.

Robert Hawkins was in and out of state custody since he was 14 years old. He'd told counselors that he was satanic and that he acted impulsively.

This child was a product of the system.

Our system of crime and punishment is another area where the infusion of liberal "logic" (if you can call it that) has been harmful. They've sold us a bill of goods telling us that not only do they know how to raise our children, but that they know how to treat the criminal and the insane.

It used to be in the old days, when a criminal was incarcerated, he worked on a chain gang doing menial but necessary tasks such as collecting the liter along side the roads. These tasks benefited the society that the offender wronged and by virtue of their menial and demeaning nature actually punished the offender for their wrong doing. There were other things that were done to prisoners other than chain-ganging but it is the one thing that comes immediately to mind.

Well In swooped the "refined" liberals telling us that punishing people for doing wrong was in and of itself wrong. They said that garnering labor from them that benefited the common good was exploitation and that forcing one to do menial tasks was tantamount to cruel and unusual. Somehow their point of view prevailed. Now criminals are given cable TV and instead working for the good of society, they form criminal enterprises and gangs with all of the free time they have on their hands. Recidivism rates have skyrocketed. Today two out of every three criminals will wind up back in jail within 3 years of release. Only 25 years ago that rate was 43% and fifty years ago the rate was only one in three. Clearly we are trending in the wrong direction... But as liberals are wont to do, they claim that we've simply not tried hard enough to implement their policies. The fact that we have tried harder and harder by implementing more and more of their programs as time has passed and the recidivism rate still increased ought to tell them that they are wrong. The fact that Sheriff Joe Arpaio's reimplementation of some of these arcane harsher tactics has indeed born fruit in a reduced recidivism rate ought to scream the truth from the hill tops; "If bad things happen to people who do bad things, they'll choose not to do bad things in the future".

It used to be that the insane were committed to mental institutions in far greater numbers than they are today. In there they received 24 hour supervision, medication and if required, a few good shock treatments.

Again, the libs knew better. Now the criminally insane are instead told to meditate, get some acupuncture or some other trendy quackery and sent back out onto the streets. We've seen the results of that recently in Cho Seung Hui, Robert Hawkings and Matthew Murray.

Clearly anyone who is insane and poses a threat to themselves or others needs to be committed, monitored and medicated for the good of society as well as themselves.

It used to be that when children misbehaved at school, they were spanked in the classroom by their teachers. I can remember the wooden paddle hanging next to the chalkboard when I was a child. The mere presence of it, inspired many of us to rethink our ill-advised pranks and when it did find use, the spectacle of it served as a reminder not only to its target, but everyone that witnessed the event that pain will follow if you step off the path of good.

Prior to Charles Whittman's rampage at the Austin campus of the University of Texas in 1966, how many mass shooting sprees can you name? Our society has been plagued by one shooting spree after another in recent times largely due to the fact that there is nothing to dissuade them from happening.

You see the liberal idea for everything is to catch it at the last moment. Modern liberalism is indeed just a re-branding of ordinary procrastination, laziness if you will, into a political philosophy... If you doubt that statement look at some of their proposals:

Terrorism - retreat inside our borders and deal with terrorism as a legal matter... convict terrorists after they've struck. We know that we need to attack them where they hide and disrupt their ability to plan attacks on us.

Criminally Insane - allow human time bombs to walk freely about in society and simply prevent their murderous tirades by banning them from gaining access to one type of weapon by banning it for everyone. We know the place for the criminally insane is in the loony bin not out walking around.

Poverty - hand outs once the person has landed in poverty. We know that people should take responsibility for their own well-being and put money away for a rainy day and that teaching a man to fish is far better than giving a man a fish.

Hurricane - hole up and wait until after it hits to get the hell out of Dodge. We know it is stupid to rely on the federal government to rescue us after the fact... we quite simply get the hell out of Dodge!

Pregnancy - go to a doctor and have the baby killed. Of course we know that the easiest way to avoid unwanted pregnancies is to avoid sex. We also know that if we devalue human life at its earliest stage that it is only a short step to devalue it in all of its stages.

I'm sure you can add more to this list (Heck I'm sure I can and I might even do so later when I'm less tired). Feel free to do so in the comments.

Liberals have no forethought. They shun proactive measures and far be it from them to plan for contingencies. Instead they prefer to live in "My Little Pony™" land were last moment futile gestures will be enough to stave off disaster if only there's enough rainbows, butterflies and love to go around.

I'm sick and tired of it. Someone has to stand up and say it... We are headed the wrong direction people. We have Tom Brokaw out lauding 1968 with nostalgia on the History channel and liberals of every persuasion fondly remembering "the summer of love". Look people we should be mourning those days. In the 1960's the communists realized that they would not be able to compete with capitalism in the long run militarily and that their only hope was in subversion and subterfuge. We pursued the commies in the 1950's but in the 1960's we accepted them and they became a cancer on our culture. I'm not convinced that it was not some nefarious and ingenious plot hacked out in KGB headquarters over a bottle of vodka and a bowl of borscht!

"Yes Sascha, we will send their children LSD!"

"Good idea Dimitri and let's send them comrade Leary as well!"

Let's face it, Senator McCarthy had it 100% right. There were in fact communist operatives hiding in America , especially in the entertainment industry. They're still here only more open and emboldened than back then.

Very little good came of the 1960's and what precious little of it that there was, was outweighed by the immeasurable harm that was being done to the fabric of our society. That awakening of American communism is what we have to thank for the lack of good common sense that sets an obviously criminally insane individual like Robert Hawkins free so that he can murder disarmed civilians trying only to shop for Christmas presents.

It is that insanity that divests a parent of his parental authority to such an extent that he is left saying:
"He will have to stand or fall on his own to learn these lessons about life. It is beyond my ability and I have to release him to God, praying that He will make sure that nothing happens to him that can not be undone."
Some will say that this is a statement of abdication, I say it is a statement of resignation, resignation to the fact that his parenting toolbox has been so emasculated that he has no tools other than a hope and a prayer to guide his son away from danger. I have seen far too many parents left powerless to help the ones they love because some liberal decided what tools they should have. Trust me, when your kid is contemplating a mass murder/suicide... a time out just does not fill the bill.

That is where modern American communism... also known as liberalism has brought us. To a land where the "My Little Pony™" mentality reigns supreme and common sense is relegated to the bust bin.

Sorry for the rambling diatribe... I might redact it later.

More Fictitious Heroes?

You know I grow weary of the left inventing fictitious characters or actual characters with dubious service records (i.e. that fat navy bitch that was never in the Middle East) to slander the brave men and women serving in our military. This newest occurrence revolves around some writer featured by the New Republic sporting the pseudonym "Scott Thomas". This supposed soldier serving at FOB Falcon mentions places that other soldiers at the FOB do not know. He mentions very noticeable persons (hideously scarred female at the mess hall every time he shows up) that no one at FOB Falcon has seen. He also describes 9mm shell casings with "a square back". Clearly no 9mm shell casing is square in the back. It may have a square firing pin indentation or it may have a square shape as a part of the headstamp, but there aren't any square shell casings period.

If you assholes are going to try to slander the military , at least have the audacity to do so without hiding behind transparent phantoms. Your slander is almost as ill-constructed as your logic. We are the ones who by and large are serving or who have family members serving so we know the true state of affairs. We can spot your fabrications easier than you can find a government handout.

Why is it that you can hide the identity of your "confidential informants" (aka fake informants) but you have no compunctions about handing military and intelligence gathering secrets out to anyone and everyone who cares to read your piece of shit rag?

It's time to start rounding up and trying traitors starting with your "Scott Thomas" or the silly asshat that made him up.

I guess your propensity to seek out the base rather than the noble serves testament to the quality of your miserable soul.

Airline Hell

Well I made it back home... No thanks to the damned airlines. It's crazy these days. You can guarantee with nearly 100% certainty that something will be wrong with your flight. This time I got stung both coming and going.

Flying to my destination, one flight that was over an hour and a half late taking off. We got the special treat of sitting on the tarmac without any air conditioning in brutal heat while we waited, for what; I have no clue. Once airborne, the plane had no catering on board other than luke-warm bottled water. There wasn't even ice to cool it. The magazines in the seat back pockets were also missing & here I was looking forward to ordering an over-priced laser sighted golf putter from the sky mall catalog!

Then, because we were so late, I barely made my connecting flight. I arrived at the gate right as they were buckling the plane closed, but I managed beg until they allowed me to get on board. My baggage on the other hand did not make the flight. It arrived hours later requiring a return trip to the airport to pick it up.

Flying back home I had a tight connection and I had to dash from one end of the Las Vegas airport all the way to the other. So, having rushed through the airport at break-neck speeds. I arrive panting at the gate just in time to hear that the plane had been delayed and would be 40 minutes late. Of course 40 minutes late in airline speak means two hours.

So I thought to myself, well if the plane's delayed, at least there will be more than enough time for them to get my baggage transferred. I was concerned about that because of the tight connection time. So I arrive back home only to find that my optimistic hopes of having my baggage arrive with me was a pipe dream. So another trip back to the airport to pick up my baggage was required. I mean it could have been worse right? My baggage could have simply vanished. I've had that happen too.

Now I ask you... What in the hell has happened to the airline industry? I can remember being served meals on airplanes. I can remember booking a flight and actually arriving when the ticket said I would and actually arriving WITH my baggage. Airlines weren't going out of business left and right back then either. You know what else wasn't happening? The airlines selling the same seat twice! Way back then, computers weren't anywhere near as powerful as they are today and yet the airlines were still able to tell if they'd sold all of the seats on the damned plane or not. Every flight I've been on in the past few years, they've been asking for volunteers and offering free flight vouchers because they over-booked the plane. Perhaps if they didn't over book the flight in the first place then they wouldn't have to give away so many free flights. If they didn't give away so many free flights, they could actually sell those seats and make some money. If they sold those seats for money, perhaps they'd earn more money and would be able to afford to give a damn about their customers.

The airlines just don't give a damn any more. They have you buy the jockey shorts and they know it. They treat you like cattle and if you dare lose your cool because they've abused you beyond the limits of human endurance - they just call the cops and have you ass raped in jail.

The airline situation is absolutely unacceptable. It has been years since I've actually arrived when the airlines said I'd arrive. I lose my baggage about ¼ of the time.

Personally, I'd be happy to pay a bit more for my tickets to be treated like a customer. But hell even that doesn't seem to work. If you pay the extra money for first class (provided they even offer it on your flight) all that buys you is a bigger seat on the late plane.

I would mention which airlines it was, but does it really matter? They ALL treat their customers with nothing more than utter disdain. So any review of one airline over another is moot. It would be nothing more than a comparison that stated one airline treated their customers slightly less shitty than another. I mean the airlines are probably the only organization with an approval rating at or below the U.S. Congress.

So I ask you, what can we as consumers do to change the way the airlines treat us?
